We had a very different and enjoyable new years eve at a rodeo in Mount Isa. Mount Isa is a mining town, and the closest town to Cloncurry, it's about a 1 1/2 hour drive from Cloncurry. We visit Mount Isa around once a month or so for some supplies and a day out. On new years eve we made our way there to the NYE Rodeo, YEEHAAA!
We have never been to a rodeo and have been wanting to go since travelling Australia and when the opportunity came up, we decided to go. We had no idea what to expect! Well it was a fun night with a great atmosphere, full on country music all night long, food, a band, fire works, kiss and flexing camera, haha and of course the rodeo included horse and bull bucking, horse and bull riding, roping, barrel racing and more.
It was a very HOT night, but it was enjoyable and a good experience for us all. We got home very late, driving carefully on the dark, country, outback roads. Once home we all said what a great and different new years eve we had and then we all flaked it. We slept in the next morning and then enjoyed a big pancake, ice cream, fruit with lashings of maple syrup brunch. What a GREAT end to 2016 and a GREAT start to 2017, WAHOOO!
