Mary Kathleen Old Township and Uranium Mine...

We went to the Mary Kathleen old township and mine. We had decided a while ago that Saturday's was our exploring day and so on one of our exploring Saturdays we decided to explore Mary Kathleen old township and Uranium mine.
This is the Old Uranium Mine...

Well it took us about 50 minutes from Cloncurry to drive to the old Mary Kathleen township and former Uranium mine.

It was a bumpy drive...

Mary Kathleen was a mining settlement in North Western Queensland. It was first settled in the 1860s. The township has been closed since 1982.
Mary Kathleen and the Uranium mine is a very interesting site
The colour of the water within the mine pit looked so pretty, but is said to be radio active and obviously toxic, however, travelling backpackers have been known to have a dip in the water...I wouldn't though, no matter how hot we were!
The township itself is also very interesting. There are concrete slabs where once homes, convenience stores, a school once stood. On one slab there is a letter box with books inside for visitors to date and sign (we all signed and dated a book).
If you are in the area (it's between Cloncurry and Mt Isa) you should check out this interesting site.
One of the slabs in the old Mary kathleen township...
Shane wanted to get a closer look at the bull, big mistake, it got up to have a closer look at Shane, Haha..don't challenge a bull, it could end badly!
Hold on tight, it's a bit of a bumpy ride...
The Mine in the Background...
We made the mistake of not wearing runners or something with some grip, however, we still managed to climb over the rocks without too much fuss, but runners would have been better...
Sweaty, Rocky Feet...
Nearly there...
Post to be continued...
Hope everyone is well xo

Are You Afraid To Die?

I'm not!
The word of God says...
Image result for the cross
1 Corinthians 15:55-57

O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.  But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

 John 3:16,17
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Death HAS been defeated. As a believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, death has NO hold on me....
I LOVE It, WAAHHOOOOO!

Have a listen to this song and read these lyrics. I LOVE these lyrics...
Kari Jobe, Forever...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKzS4SjBeb8

Kari Jobe (Forever)
The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon him

One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
Forever, forever

You have overcome
Your resurrected King
You have overcome the grave
You have overcome

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive (Forever)

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

Remember, Gods PERFECT LOVE cannot be overcome πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

Many Blessings,
Love Dimi xo

Our Update..Working In Cloncurry...

So its been about 6 weeks since we started our new job at the caravan park.
As I said in a previous post, not long after we got to Cloncurry, when we knew we'd be staying for a while, we had hoped we'd get the cleaning contract for the caravan park. Instead, Shane was offered 2 other jobs that he quickly took and it remained that way for a few months.
Then one day, within a week of us leaving Cloncurry to spend Christmas in the Townsville sun, we were quite casually asked if we wanted the cleaning contract. We were told if we wanted the job, it was ours. In fact, I actually worked for a few days before we even went to Townsville.

It's no coincidence that we prayed for work that we both could share the load, and we prayed for a rent free house that would come with that work, and that we'd still be able to homeschool our children and have plenty of time with them, exploring and ministry work...and it all worked out...WAHOOO!

The work is cleaning! Cleaning the amenities, camp kitchen, lounge, bbq areas, cleaning the cabins, folding linen and it sometimes includes some other grounds work. It can be hard work, it is physically exhausting at times, especially when we have an extra long day at work and also because we are usually working in late 30's to low 40 degrees heat, however, it fits into what we want right now, so we will continue in it for a while longer.
Last week we met the owner who unfortunately isn't an easy person to please or get on with ( the owner doesn't live in Cloncurry and comes and checks on his business throughout the year), however, we can handle ourselves quite well, we won't allow anyone to treat us harshly, we are good at respectfully sticking up for ourselves and we know we are doing a great job.
We know this job is for a season and then we'll be on the road again!

The house is a HUGE bonus, as is the other few perks we get with the cleaning contract, plus it gives us experience in this area for the future, which is always a bonus.
The girls enjoy helping us up to 3 days a week (for about 1 hour), which they get paid for and in turn they give a tithe and offering to God/Church, they also save a percentage and have some money left over for a treat every now and then.

So, so far, so good.
Hope everyone is well xo

Dimi

Fun in the Cloncurry Sun...

Well it gets VERY HOT here in Cloncurry North, West Queensland.
So far we've experienced it to get up to the mid 40's, and for the 5 months we've been here as far as I can remember, it hasn't got lower than mid 30's.
It weather usually sits between 36 to 40 degrees everyday and it rarely ever cools down.
We get quite a few storms with the works here. We cop the thunder, lightning, wind, and when the rain hits us hard and it starts pouring, it usually makes the weather hotter and sticky. It gets very hot and muggy afterwards. So we try to keep cool...GOOD air conditioning is the key, and if you walk around Cloncurry you will here air conditioner units working 24 hours a day as you pass every home, haha.
We also like to keep cool having a dip in the pool.
We have a smallish pool at the caravan park (although it's been quite green and dirty for months), we also enjoy going to the large, very clean public pool for a dip. The girls tend to make some friends and we all hang out there for hours when we can!
I Hope everyone is well and enjoying the week xo

Dimi
